Skills as add-ons

A better model may be to have skills as add-ons that a user can activate, rather than having to ask for explicitly. They'd then be able to over-ride the default behaviors of Alexa, as well as shorten access commands. For example, it gets a bit difficult for a user to have to say: "Alexa tell Laundry Machine Manager to start the wash on gentle cycle" A lot easier to be able to have root level and say: "Alexa start the wash on gentle cycle" If you've ever programmed mods for games like Half-Life or Quake, that basic model is what I'm talking about. The order of the mods you have determines who handles a process first.
