Should package name be different than package name on Google Play?

So I've taken over production on an app that hasn't been submitted yet, but does have a security profile already created. The security profile was created using a package name with the format "com.myCompany.myGameName.amazon". But - the game already exists on Google Play with the package name "com.myCompany.myGameName". I would prefer to have both apps use the package name "com.myCompany.myGameName" to keep things simpler, but I don't know what advantages or disadvantages I would get from having two separate package names. Anybody have any insight on this? Thanks.

Hi, The package name can be the same on Amazon and Google Play. There are no real disadvantages to this that I know of. Thanks, Nick
