I think you misunderstand what the Alexa Skills Kit is for. It is not for doing arbitrary voice recognition. Why don't you go and read the overview documentation and make sure you are in the right place?

Hi, I think what you're looking for is Alexa Voice Service but without some more details about what you're trying to accomplish I can't be sure. There is more information here: https://developer.amazon.com/appsandservices/solutions/alexa/alexa-voice-service. Take a look a the docs and hopefully this satisfies your use case. There is not a C example but you can take a look at, download and try out a Java sample: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/alexa/alexa-voice-service/docs/reference-implementation-guide. You will be able to leverage AVS rest APIs and your microphone and speaker to add alexa to your SoC. If you give us a few more details about your use case we can provide more specific comments and whether or not AVS will fit your needs.
