Associate Android app installation with advertisement campaign
Hello, We have Amazon Android app, as well as Google Play app, and are willing to advertise it using Advertise Your App service. We have integrated Mobile Ads API for registration tracking to see conversions in advertisement view. Now we have another task - we want to know somehow that device installation and user session was initiated by Ad click (and the name of advertisement campaign). We'll use it in our own analytics solution. Is there are any way to get this info? Possibly some API in code to query affiliation during first app launch? Or may be we can configure callback to our server, like in AppsFlyer? Or at least CSV with advertisement campaign mapped to unique device identifiers? Thanks, Nikolay.
Hi, I have explored the documentation for AWS Mobile Analytics and still can't find the information I need. Could you please point me more precisely? Once again, we don't need full analytics solution, only the way to associate app installation with Advertisement campaign. Thanks, Nikolay.
Hi Nikolay, From your original message, you have already integrated the Mobile Ads SDK for conversion tracking, which is all you need to associate app installations with your Advertise Your App campaigns. If you integrated it as outlined here:
https://developer.amazon.com/public/apis/earn/mobile-ads/docs/app-download-conversion-tracking, the Ads SDK will associate first starts of your app with your Advertise Your App campaigns for all app stores and those metrics will be presented in your Campaign Performance page. (For Amazon Appstore, installs of your app are associated automatically with your Advertise Your App campaign.) Does this help to answer your question? If not, could you provide more detail about what you need?
Hi, Yes, we can see conversions number in Campaign Performance page. Now we want to extract this information to our data warehouse. We need to know, that some specific user_id in our database installed our app by clicking Ad from some specific campaign. With this data we will have the possibility to compare users, generated by different campaigns and different advertisement platforms, in the context of KPIs, that we are monitoring. Since we have our app in different operating systems and app stores, and use different advertisers for promotion, it is important for our marketing team to compare it all in one place. Was I clear enough? Please ask, if you need more details. Best, Nikolay.
Hi Nikolay, I understand you're trying to build a custom mobile measurement solution in-house. In Advertise Your App, you can use the Play referrer tag to associate conversions for campaigns on Play and track those using your in-house solution. For Amazon Appstore data, it is only published through the Campaign Performance page in the Appstore Developer Console. We do offer a CSV download of the daily data which could be imported into your internal dashboard and/or otherwise published in your organization. I'm sorry that I couldn't help you resolve the issue fully.
