Amazon Coins=Promo Code Option for Developers?

Will the upcoming option of Amazon Coins virtual currency provide developers the opportunity to 'gift' their apps to users for promotional purposes? It would be great if Amazon provided an allotment amount to each developer per version of their app and even perhaps allow for it to be controlled down to the iap level. Please give this some serious consideration if it is not yet possible in the roll-out plan.

Hi Pilappmaker, We generally do not answer questions about future products or services, which this falls under. However, I'm going to move this thread under the Suggestions forum so it will be counted as a "vote for" such a capability. Thanks.

We're shocked that Amazon doesn't have iTunes style promo codes available for us to promote our apps! We really need this!

I wonder if Amazon have implemented this yet? I am also shocked that Amazon do not have a promo code like iTunes app store. And every other online store I have ever shopped at! I note that there actually is an option to put in a promo code, so how does a developer create one? http://screencast.com/t/b7efy0uKJ

Hi Craig, Please go to the Amazon Gift Cards page at http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000619631 to purchase a gift card to send to your customers or reviewers. Amazon Apps are currently available for customers in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Amazon Apps only work on Android mobile and tablet devices. To redeem an Amazon gift card or an Amazon Apps promo code, a customer must have opened an Amazon account and must accept the Terms of Use for Amazon Apps marketplace where they are eligible to shop.

Hi Sujoy, So what you are telling me is that I have to - buy a gift card - HOPE that the person I send it to uses it for my app. - Lose a further 30% of the amount I am discounting as they still pay full price for the app, just use a voucher for some of it - so I end up with even less than the 70% of the 50%, I end up paying to give them the app. Eg. Say app is $10. I buy a gift voucher at $5. They pay full price for app. Amazon takes $3, I get $7. BUT in actual fact I actually only get $2. True 50% discount would be They pay $5 for the app. Amazon get 30% of that - $1.5, I get $3.5 BIG DIFFERENCE! of $1.5 or 15% Why can't I provide a discount code for My specific app? Why should I lose so much to Amazon to promote my app sales?
