Hello folks. I am working on a project using the Amazon Mobile Associates API, and would like to know if the following is possible: 1. User downloads the app from the Google Play store 2. User views a physical Amazon item in the app and clicks a link or in app function and purchases said item 3. The app receives a callback that a purchase has been made by that user, with details on the item It would seem to me from the documentation that this is only possible for apps in the Amazon store. Am I mistaken? Is there some workaround, or any other way for either the app or a backend database to determine that a purchase has been made and tie that to a specific user ID from the app? Thanks for your help!
This is a very disappointing answer from an Amazon representative. You've essentially copy/pasted text from
https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates.html and told me to read the documentation. I've read the documentation, and have a question which was posed very clearly.
Hi Blahrandom, I am sorry that I could not make clear things up in my last post. In MAA only In-App Product Detail and In-App Product Preview are only supported for the apps what are not distributed through Amazon App Store. And by using these two features you would not able to get the information whether user has bought the target product or not. As of now, the primary motivation of using these features for developer is if user buys the product, they will get the revenue share. >>It would seem to me from the documentation that this is only possible for apps in the Amazon store. Am I mistaken? Ans. This will work on devices which have Amazon AppStore along with the app. Is there some workaround, or any other way for either the app or a backend database to determine that a purchase has been made and tie that to a specific user ID from the app? Ans. Sorry for the inconvenience at this point in time. We don't have such mechanism as of now. Message was edited by: Sujoy@Amazon
