Amazon purchase callbacks

Hello folks. I am working on a project using the Amazon Mobile Associates API, and would like to know if the following is possible: 1. User downloads the app from the Google Play store 2. User views a physical Amazon item in the app and clicks a link or in app function and purchases said item 3. The app receives a callback that a purchase has been made by that user, with details on the item It would seem to me from the documentation that this is only possible for apps in the Amazon store. Am I mistaken? Is there some workaround, or any other way for either the app or a backend database to determine that a purchase has been made and tie that to a specific user ID from the app? Thanks for your help!

Hi Blahrandom, Thank you for showing interests in Amazon Mobile Associate API. The Amazon Mobile Associates API serves U.S. users and works with mobile apps on Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, and Android phones and tablets. Apps that use the Amazon Mobile Associates API may be distributed through any Android platform as long as they are available through the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Program. Developers who reside in AR, CO, ME ,MN, MO, NC, or RI are not eligible to use Mobile Associates API because the Amazon Associates program is not available in those states. In addition, the Mobile Associates API may not be incorporated into mobile apps that are directed toward children under 13 years of age, as defined by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and any regulations promulgated thereunder. For more information on COPPA compliance, please visit the FTC’s website. Please review the FAQ section ( https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/faq.html) for additional details on eligibility. You should be able to find out more info about the features availability here : https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/overview.html#API%20Feature%20Set Please refer below links for understanding and implementation details of different features of MAA : Direct linking : https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/linking-service.html https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/linking-service-implementation.html In-App Product Detail and In-App Product Preview: https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/in-app-detail-preview.html https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/in-app-detail-preview-impl.html In-App Shopping Experience: https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/in-app-shop.html https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates/in-app-shop-impl.html

This is a very disappointing answer from an Amazon representative. You've essentially copy/pasted text from https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/mobile-associates.html and told me to read the documentation. I've read the documentation, and have a question which was posed very clearly.

Hi Blahrandom, I am sorry that I could not make clear things up in my last post. In MAA only In-App Product Detail and In-App Product Preview are only supported for the apps what are not distributed through Amazon App Store. And by using these two features you would not able to get the information whether user has bought the target product or not. As of now, the primary motivation of using these features for developer is if user buys the product, they will get the revenue share. >>It would seem to me from the documentation that this is only possible for apps in the Amazon store. Am I mistaken? Ans. This will work on devices which have Amazon AppStore along with the app. Is there some workaround, or any other way for either the app or a backend database to determine that a purchase has been made and tie that to a specific user ID from the app? Ans. Sorry for the inconvenience at this point in time. We don't have such mechanism as of now. Message was edited by: Sujoy@Amazon
