Do I need to check country before calling for an ad?

When ads were only available in the US and UK, I used to check the country before calling for an Amazon ad, calling AdMob otherwise. Now that more countries have been added this is inconvenient. If my app calls for an ad in a country where Amazon ads are not served, does the request fail gracefully by triggering the AdListener.onAdFailedToLoad callback?
