Hi, We developed and released several titles for the eInk Kindle devices, including a series of game that were very well received and reviewed (one game averaging a review score of 4.7 from 93 reviews). We have now released the first episode of this series on Kindle Fire. However,we are very disappointed with the performance so far. As far as we can ascertain I don't believe the issue is that people do not wish to buy the game - but instead, that they don't know the game is there. On the eInk kindles, when a game was first released it would appear on the front page under a 'New Releases' section, but it seems that on the Kindle Fire games will not appear in this category unless they have already sold a significant number of copies. Is this correct? Are you able to provide any suggestions of how we can get our game discovered? I know already, that there is an 'App Marketing Request' form, which we will submit, but the nature of the form likewise suggests that games already successful on the store with be more likely to be promoted. We have enjoyed working with Amazon on our eInk titles, and have always found Amazon to be very helpful, friendly, and easy to work with.
Hi Jonathan, Thank you for writing to us. There is a tab in Amazon App Store Client and retail web site for newly released apps and there all the new apps should appear (let us know if your app is listed there). More over, there is a section in Amazon retail web site home page for new apps called "New For You". We recommend apps to our users based on their interests. You could go for "Marketing Placement Request" to improve your app sales. We ask the developers interested in promoting their apps on Amazon provide a written proposal indicating their suggested promotional ideas (e.g., exclusive marketing opportunities, online site placement, participation in our Free App of the Day, informational statistics on app performance, etc.). Please explore the marketing form located at:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/html-forms-controller/Mobile_App_Marketing_Request Before you get started on the marketing proposal, please review the following participation guidelines: • Please be sure to submit all submissions for promotional placements 4 weeks before the date specified for the placement. • Amazon will communicate acceptance of proposals and run dates via e-mail. • Please note that you are responsible for the accuracy of information regarding your apps. Please submit complete screen shots/icons/thumbnails, descriptive text, and other relevant information on the app information page (via the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal). Amazon will use commercially reasonable efforts to see that accurate information is represented on the site. Content updates can be made by submitting correct information via the Distribution Portal. Changes should be visible within 14 days prior to the app availability date. Once the marketing proposal form has been submitted, you will be redirected to the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal. Proposals will be processed on a first come, first served basis. We will be reviewing proposals on a weekly basis. If your request is approved, you will be contacted by an Amazon representative. All apps in Amazon Apps are discoverable by tens of millions of Amazon customers. Amazon's automated and targeted marketing and merchandising algorithms provide a unique and personalized shopping experience for every Amazon customer. The Free App of the Day is our premier curated promotion in Amazon Apps. Each day, the app we select is featured in some of the most visible placements in Amazon Apps, including placements on mobile devices and Kindle Fire. These placements and the exposure they provide drive significant traffic to the featured apps and allow the developers to grow their installed base quickly. It is common for apps to be downloaded more than 75,000 times on the day they are featured as the Free App of the Day. That volume of new users can generate great word-of-mouth publicity for your app and also provide a compelling opportunity for you to monetize your apps downstream through features such as in-app purchasing and advertising. If you'd like to nominate your app for inclusion in the Free App of the Day program, locate the app within the Distribution Portal, and on the Availability & Pricing tab, find the Free App of the Day (FAD) eligibility option at the bottom of the page. Check the “Yes, please consider this app for the program” box.
As far as I can see, our game has not appeared under the 'New Releases' tab. I believe the issue may be how this category is ordered? It would make most sense for this category to be ordered according to release date, such that every game has the best chance to be discovered and bought. Is this the case?
