Kindle Fire HD 7" and Fire OS 3.0 / 3.1

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has been following news feeds on the new software release of Fire OS 3.0 and subsequent 3.1? From what I've read so far my understanding is that Fire OS 3.0 may only be available to users who purchase Kindle Fire HD's and the new HDX after November 2013, is this correct? Also if this is the case does it mean that current Kindle Fire HD 7 users, ( mine was bought in August 2013), will not be subject to software upgrades? Any feedback would be most appreciated.

ref: 'How can I determine which Generation my Kindle Fire HD is?' by TheComp Hello, If one navigates to the menu at the top of the page you are currently reading, and select SDK >> SDK & Tools >> Kindle Fire On the right hand panel is an option 'Device and Feature Specifications' The primary difference is the absence of the front facing camera on the newer 3rd gen devices. Hey TheComp, The reliable way to do it is getting the value of android.os.Build.MODEL diagrammatically. The values should be, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" (3rd Gen) : KFAPWA (WAN) Kindle Fire HDX 7" (3rd Gen) : KFAPWI (WiFi), KFTHWA (WAN) Kindle Fire HD 7" (3rd Gen) : KFTHWI (WiFi), KFSOWI https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/specifications.html
