Can't deploy Unity projects any longer to a Kindle Fire HD

I use a Kindle Fire HD for testing my Unity deployments for the Amazon store. For the life of me, I don't get this working any longer for about two weeks now, and I have not the slightest clue. A project that deploys w/o any issue to other Android devices like a Nexus 7 or a Galaxy S2 will just start with a black screen on the Kindle, not even showing the splash screen. The log has no hint whatsover (see below), and I can also no longer download these projects from the store where they are already available live. I did a factory reset of the device and started from scratch, but no change. Here is the startup log of a freshly created Unity test project that just shows a colored sphere and has no fancy coding at all. Answering myself: You need at least Unity patch 4.1.6p1 from http://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases. It has the following fix: * (654591) - Android: Fixed freeze during startup on most Amazon Kindle devices. Note that these patches are not advertised automatically. The latest announced and automatic update was. 4.1.6f1, so it requires you to take explicit action. Regards, habitoti
