Hi, screen modes have changed from the Android SDK 2.3.3-based Kindle Fire, due to changes in both the Android 4.0.3 platform and the Kindle Fire tablet skin. The layout and usage of the soft key toolbar has been changed for the new Kindle Fire tablets. Also, our Android 4.0.3-based device software for the Kindle Fire (2nd Generation) and Kindle Fire HD tablets handles certain screen mode flags somewhat differently than before. Therefore, when coding for screen modes, keep in mind that screen modes from Android SDK 2.3x to 4.0.3 may not appear exactly the same within the app. If one screen mode coding method does not fulfill your user experience (UX) requirements across the device types, consider enabling device detection and branched code for that UX element. Thank you.

this blog post - http://www.amazonappstoredev.com/2012/10/optimizing-for-layout-on-kindle-fire-hd.html - shows the two options for Full Screen on the new ICS based Kindle devices, and there is more specific details in the User Experience guidelines here https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/cx-guidelines.html#Fullscreen
