How will my Kindle Fire HD app run on other Kindles?
Hi, posting for the first time here as I've just signed up to begin my first app submission and am keen to learn to build to multiple devices. My app was developed on Unity and is running very nicely on my Fire HD. I've used dynamic text positioning and this looks to be working well as it runs perfectly well on a Nexus 7 test device, it also runs ok (albeit squeezed inwards very slightly, but nothing major) on my Xperia Play phone. Given that the FireHD and the N7 have roughly the same screen size[i][/i] ( 1280x800) and my phone has a somewhat substantially smaller size of 854x480 I'm pleased with the games adaption to the screens so far tested. With that in mind, how well should my app adapt to the other Kindle Fire devices with regard to the display? Not so concerned about the standard-definition Kindle Fire but wondering if the new larger Fire HD will attempt to scale up my game and if so how well it will manage this ? Further, would the Kindle emulator serve this screen-test service particularly well? Any info on this much appreciated, these Android screens and manifests are all a bit much to take in for me over such a short time period, and I'm keen to get my apps onto various Kindles! SpacePixel
Ok, I managed to get the Android emulators running and my app looks fine on both the 8.9" HD and 2nd Gen Kindle Fire. If I can trust these emulators and their screen representations then I'll release on both HD Kindles and the 2nd Gen. The only other unknown factor being if the 2nd Gen may lack a little processor power compared to the HD's and may not maintain the smooth screen update. Anyone know much about the 2nd Gen speed compared to the HD ?
