Does Speech Recognition work in Kindle Fire HD tablets?

Hey y'all, Has anyone here used android.speech.SpeechRecognizer in the Kindle Fire HD tablets? When I tried it in the Kindle Fire HD 7" emulator the SpeechRecognizer.isRecognitionAvailable function returned false. I'm not sure if it is the same case with a real Kindle Fire HD tablet. Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Appestry, Thank you for sharing the information with us. What I meant is there is no inbuilt Speech Recognition service available in Kindle at this moment. But there are third party voice recognition services available what could be used in the app.

Are there any third party voice recognition services that work with the Facebook app, so you can dictate your updates, instead of typing them in?

Hi – Thanks for your response. How did you load it? I'm looking for a Kindle, but as I am completely dependent upon voice-recognition, I would need an app for any text typing. KM

According to recent November posts, with the latest software update – 14.3.1.0, there is a microphone on the keypad, and you tap it and you can have voice/speech recognition http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdThread=Tx17HZ7LOABGE94

it does not workon the Kindle HD. Friends who have the Kindle HD X report mixed results. I just bought an Asus memo pad 10 inch and I was surprised that it had the voice recognition building. It works on all apps word processor email and on this I'm speaking this reply instead of typing it I have made no corrections on this to show you how well it works. It even comes in German and works very well that too so I can recommend the speech recognition on that little Asus memo pad which actually was cheaper than the Kindle HD
