App not in Developer Select - any chance for success?

Hello everyone, my latest app did not make it to the Developer Select Program (DSP), and I wonder, if I should leave it as a paid app (0.99 USD), or should I just make it free? I have had some success with paid apps in DSP, but so far the apps (all paid) that didn't make in DSP, were failures (and I made them free eventually). Would anyone else care to share their experience - if your app did not make it to the DSP, were you able to make it a success anyway? Thanks.

We consider a variety of factors as we evaluate each app for Kindle Fire Tablets, including the quality of experience the app offers and compatibility with the device. While our goal is to offer a broad and compelling assortment to Kindle Fire Tablet customers, not all apps available through Amazon Apps are currently available on Kindle Fire Tablets.

Hello, thanks. Well, I was wondering more if I can count on any success if my app is not in Developer Select Program. I'll just make the app free today and try to do better next time.
