The game we are submitting requires a robust customer support system to look into user account issues. Currently, we are able to search our database via AndroidID. However, regular end users have no way of exposing this ID in order to help us help them. What are the current supported ways of accomplishing what we are trying to achieve?
Using Android ID as an identifier for app installations is tricky. It is not immutable, and may vary depending on the behavior of the user and the implementation provided by the device vendor. Does your customer support system require customers to have a sign-in account? Obviously having those credentials would make things easier. I would suggest using a value you produce, store, and track yourself. An app-generated UUID would work for this purpose. You could generate and report this UUID at installation time.
