How much testing does Amazon do?

I have an app for phones and tablets that currently is available in the Google Play store but not Amazon AppStore because I couldn't figure out how to let Amazon do the testing. Now with the Fire TV I need to get it into the Amazon AppStore. The application requires access to a private server (though individuals can setup their own), and the application is designed to now allow certain functions over the WAN. How can I get this app tested? I'm guessing that the test group at Amazon can't or won't go through the multi-hour process to setup a server and load content for testing.

Hey Jon, I have a counter question before giving you the answer for your query. The client app (apk - installable on Fire TV) is supposed to be distributed the store present on FireTV. Now if an app client needs to talk to the server running on the same WAN it's connected to and the server can not be open through internet then how you are going to distribute your app to Fire TV users who are not in the WAN? We distribute the app clients what might have their server component and communication is done normally using http through internet. Now in an app store how can you sell your app client that needs a server running on the same WAN, and who will ensure that the device is connected to a WAN? Please clarify your question in order to get the right support. Thanks.

I'm not sure I follow your question. My application "ecosystem" is LAN (wired and wireless) based and while a few of the functions can work over the WAN, there are key functions that only work on the LAN and the server prohibits client applications using those over the WAN. If the user has the server application they know the 1 value they need to put into the client application to make it work. Let's just assume EVERY function in the app only works on the LAN and that you have to point the app to the local server for any of its functions to work. This setup is a client-server setup and users are responsible for their own client setup and their own server setup, and the client is useless without the server.

John, It's hard to say anything about this with out looking at the testing instruction. You could probably do either of below 2 things before developing or submitting your app to us. 1. Send the testing instructions through ContactUs( https://developer.amazon.com/help/contactus.html) by keeping a reference of this thread url there. 2. If you are agree, I can send you a mail and in the reply send us the testing instructions.

From experience I found I had to setup a public instance of the server which I had to alter to allow WAN traffic, and they tested using a URL that pointed to that server.
