Video playout is Jerky/Shakey when playing 1280 x 720 video

Launching a new App with Amazon for TV/Video services. Having problems with jerky/shakey video when playing 1280 x 720 video. My analyzer shows that the stream playout is only playing out at 1.5 meg, which is not enough bandwidth to play and HD stream. Is Amazon throttling my streams or is this a device limitation on the Firestick/Fire TV? We are encoding video in HLS format, High Profile, at 4 meg, 3.2, 2.4, and 1.6 meg.

There should not be a device limitation here. The Fire TV is capable of playing 1080P content without shakiness. If you are still having issues, I'd suggest using the VisualOn OnStream MediaPlayer+ SDK, which you can request here: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/devices/fire-tv/visualon-request. Thanks, Nick

Nick would it be possible for Amazon to take a look at our video streams? Our App has gone live, but video issues are still present on Firestick and FireTV

The app is called boingo TV, it is only available to customers on Military bases, so hopefully you can access it. We have created a lower end profile 640 x 480 so video will work on the Firestick. Please go to channel 259 NFL HD, i will set that channel to 1280 x 720 so you can see the problem on the Firestick/FireTV, video problems are more visible on the Firestick.

Did some invesstigation on the Cap file, and have questions regarding the setup/defaults. Our current Cap file only shows video resolution set to 640 x 480 with max bitrate at 3 meg. Can you provide info on how the cap file should be setup to support 1280 x 720 video at higher bitrates?Believe this file is the default settings our fokuson player is using. - - 1 0 600000 5 300000 320 240 0 30 - 1 0 1200000 5 500000 480 320 0 30 - 1 1 1000000 5 800000 640 480 0 30 - 1 1 1500000 5 1000000 640 480 0 30 - 2 0 1000000 5 1200000 640 480 0 30 - 2 0 1500000 5 1500000 640 480 0 30 - 2 1 800000 5 1400000 640 480 0 30 - 2 1 1000000 5 1600000 640 480 0 30 - 2 1 1200000 5 1800000 640 480 0 30 - 2 1 1800000 5 2000000 640 480 0 30 - 2 1 2300000 5 3000000 640 480 0 30 - 4 1 1000000 5 1800000 640 480 0 30 - 4 1 1500000 5 2000000 640 480 0 30 - 4 1 2000000 5 2500000 640 480 0 30 - 4 1 2700000 5 3000000 640 480 0 30

I looked at the code you posted, and don't see anything obviously wrong, but I'm not familiar with the fokuson player. We have our media specifications on this page: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/devices/fire-tv/docs/media-specifications, but those settings seem within the suggest values. I'm very curious what specific implementation the fokuson player is using, as that seems like the point where these issues are occuring. -Nick
