amazon firetvstick

been gone for 12 years in the feds i just purchased the fire tv stick. i live in the garage apt behind my mother house and use her wifi service. my computer wifi works fine, my cell wifi works fine but this amazon stick says weak signal and wont load? i have already moved the router to the back of her house? any help would be greatly appreciated.
