Alexa room identification.

It would be nice for alexa to be able to identify which room she is in so we can shorten some of the triggers. Instead of saying turn off master bedroom lights. We could just tell her to turn off the lights and she would understand which room she is in. Then we could still use her to say turn off the living room lights.

Please implement some king of ability for alexa to respond differently based on her location in the house. Also, for those of us with kids, the ability to limit where the command can come from would be nice. Like Bedroom lights could only be turned off with the bedroom dot. That way kids ect... aren't turning them on and off from downstairs.

Yes, this would make Alexa appear much more intelligent.

I came here to make this exact same post. I have a Echo in every room and this would be a game changer. Walk into the kitchen, "Alexa, Turn on the Light". Walk into the family room, "Alexa, turn on the Fan". The only thing is I do like the ability to turn lights off from any room, maybe make your last suggestion an option IMO.

It's possible to configure this using Routines in the Alexa App.

Much required feature, we should be able to configure with group name and device name. Like in Living Room group, name the devices as "living room light", "living room fan", "living room LED" etc, And Alexa needs to know its position, in this case "Living Room". when some one says "switch on LED", Alexa checks if any device as "Living Room" + "LED" (location + name), if yes, switch on, else any device named "LED" present, if yes switch on else "no device found with name LED" prompt.

This way we would have unique device names "Living room light", "Bedroom light", "Dinning room light", "Master bedroom Light" etc. but can control light of each room only with the name "light" while in that room or with full name from other rooms.
