1 Account 1 Brand

I suggest MBA change the Brand guideline to one brand per account. All listings from said account would be posted under the single brand. Take keyword search away from brand other than the actual brand name. Force content creators to identify with their brand like the app developers.

Would love to stay under one brand just to be able to share all my shirts with friends all in one list but until there is some type of water mark or a ramp up in taking down these little copycat snakes then I also vote against

My brand name is ballet related, but I also have other designs that have nothing to do with dance, so I like being able to have different brands. However, I do think once a brand name is created, it should not be allowed to be used by any one else.

The problem with that is people can squat on your brand. What if someone takes your brand name before you get to. Then that's the a problem for the original brand owner. For example if I have an established T-shirt brand and someone takes it before me then I'm out of luck.

This is exactly my sentiment. I want the ability to be able to design for different brands and niche on the fly. This is one of the best things about Merch and shouldn't be changed. Just because someone designs for 1 niche doesn't mean everyone wants it that way. And what you've said about once a brand is taken noone else should be able to have it makes 100% sense and would solve a lot of probs.

This is a great subject for discussion, Ken. There are pro/con arguments to having just the one brand per account and I don't have a clear answer in my mind. I'd be all for having a brand that I could build on, but there are reasons why I, and I'm sure many others, haven't done so yet. The primary one is because of the copycat risk, within Merch itself, where having a Brand that exposes all of your designs leaves you open to having your best performing designs stolen in one easy sweep. The second is that having a single brand without any ability to display niches within that brand would be very confusing for a buyer. They come to buy a pro-Trump shirt, then find a mix of designs all displayed together, including pro-Hillary ones, not to mention surfer shirts and those for dog-loving wine drinking cat-ladies! If we had a 'Merch Store' for just our brand which displayed when our Brand name was clicked on, with categories/niches to select, then that would be a killer idea.

Even if Merch was prepared to do this, they'd then have to sort out exactly how they allocated Brands, as there are so many already duplicated - all be it that most are so niche centred that they wouldn't work long term.

Couple this with having hidden keyword fields and Merch could develop into something strong on Amazon.

Amazon could do with employing someone who has active experience in selling shirts (and other POD products) online to create this structure, let's face it, many of us can see so clearly where the problems lie, yet they often seem to be things that get discovered when it is too late, like the massive predominantly Vietnamese software copying of designs, with Facebook groups that openly promote this.

I would mainly like to see discussion on this topic. Some great ideas could come from it within the community.

At first I wanted this but I have 2 sites and I like to match my shirt brand to the site. And I wouldn't want all my shirts under one brand. And as someone already said, that would help copycats find all your stuff. Sometimes I like to create random shirts under different brands and I like being able to use different names to ward off copycats.

As it stands right now, unfortunately I am not in favor of this. Multiple issues are there. Copycats being one of the major one among it.

Then I also don't like to have all my eggs in one basket, even in branding. Not just because it'd be irrelevant but even if let's say a copycat doesn't see my brand but a good designer and marketer sees all my best selling designs in one place and improves it and have his/her own spin at it. Technically there's nothing wrong with that as he/she won't be copying me but why should I make it easy for someone to feed them an idea of what my best selling designs are?

Next, I like to have separate brands for each niche I'm in. Although I'm not doing it now, that's my plan after the 15th November purge as I see Amazon getting better in getting copycats under control as well. Having different niche brands increases chances that someone would browse my other listings under the brand and purchase more t-shirts as they are all in the same niche.

So I just don't see it being feasible here.

My two cents.
