Make Merch Shirts Searchable In Proper Areas

Currently, Merch shirts are not searchable in the Men, Boys, and Girls sections of Clothing.

For example, if a customer is searching for a men’s t-shirt, they are likely to use the options on the left hand side of the search page to narrow their options to the Men department. When they do this, all Merch shirts disappear. The same is true when filtering for Boys and Girls. Youth shirts actually show up in Women.

This would be a major fix that would not only increase sales for Merch, but it would immensely improve the customer experience.

Yes I made a couple of forum posts about similar concerns recently. While "Mens" do show up if you make sure you have already gone into the "Novelty" department, I still see no reason why Merch listings are separated from the main 'Clothing' listings by being placed under the odd 'Novelty' moniker. However yes even once you go into the Novelty sub-section the "Youth" designs are completely missing from the "Boys" or "Girls" sections.

Also if anyone uses the "Color" search filter buttons to show results in a certain color then ALL Merch listings are completely removed from the search results in ALL departments/sections

I feel like this suggestion got buried right after the announcement of deleting shirts after 60 days, but I think it is an important one. If customers can't find your shirt, they can't buy it.

yes, exactly Kevin! I find it odd enough that Amazon is penalising it's own project by putting listings in "Novelty", but having items simply missed out of certain departments or search selections is a nightmare given the new 60-day deletion policy

My guess is they are using the "novelty" section, to leave open options for future products.

I agree. Like someone said, they might be purposefully doing this as a form of throttling. It'd be certainly nice to have complete visibility to all of our listings.

If they truly want to sell Merch shirts, they should be showing them in all the shirt categories that apply...not hiding them in novelty sections that nobody goes into unless an affiliate pushes them there.

The fact that they want to start deleting designs that don't sell after 60 days tells us they either want to sell more merch shirts, or they just want to bring down the number of shirts. If they only want less shirts up, it would be wiser for them to stop approving new accounts, tiering people up to 1000's of designs, and to fix their rampant copycat / infringment problems.

A shirt nobody sees will never sell.

A few people have mentioned reasons why Merch shirts may be in the Novelty section, and they may be right. However, it makes for a terrible customer experience. Someone searching for a men's t-shirt should be able to find it in the men's clothing department.
