Expanding the number of available shirt colors per listing.

What is the reason for restricting the number of shirt colors per listing? I have to create two listings to cover all the colors.

You don't need to offer all the colors. It's better if you give customers just a few options otherwise they experience analysis paralysis. Plus, currently merch doesn't let us choose which color shows up on the preview image, and usually there is one color or a few the design looks best with. Offering tons of colors actually hurts sales. I usually don't offer all 5 color options anymore, I offer 3 or even just one. And my conversions are up.

Your "conversions" are up? I'm new here so I was wondering, are you saying there's a way to see your views vs sales?

You could also list each color separately. Or in groups of complimentary colors.

I think they are missing a HUGE market by not offering pink or purple, girls love these colours even turquoise, but not green and yet merch offers 2 shades of green and a kaki ...very much male based choices
