Hey Kristi, just wanted to say thanks for giving us this template. Makes reporting these very easy and shopify has been great about removing the stolen designs.

I'm happy to share! One of the biggest reasons that these thieves are so MASSIVE in numbers is that artists have been reluctant to report them. In our desire to be "left in the dark" and only focus on sales and basically, "write off" the theft, we've given the thieves a free pass. It has to STOP! Yes, there will always be thieves, but if we don't fight back, we won't have a business in the end. Theft is growing exponentially DAILY. Thieves are destroying us. We must stop being complacent about it and make it a PRIORITY to protect our brand(s) and our RIGHTFUL materials. Failure to do so will lead to the end of all of us. If you haven't been hit yet, you will be. It's only a matter of time.

Please, report the theft to the hosts.

Please, report the theft to Google Shopping and/or other methods they are using to advertise.

Please, report the theft to paypal and whoever else they are using to collect payments.

Please, report the theft to whoever is doing their printing services. Usually this will be customcat.

Please, send some form of communication to your representatives (local and state!) and tell them what is going on. It's time to stand up and FIGHT BACK. It's time to stop being victims!

And, please, communicate with whatever services you are using (merch, zazzle, redbubble, etc...) and tell them to enact some form of image security. It does us NO GOOD to literally hand over our work to the criminals on a silver platter.

Do you have an example of an effective letter to send Paypal? Is there a specific email address that works best?

Thanks Kristi, I have used your DCMA email form about 7 times so far today, and the latest not on this list above is tee-tshirts.com. I am limited to 2 uploads a day and found the 2 images I uploaded the same day on one of these shopify stores. They shirts dont have to sell yet, it seems they can scrape for new uploads to Merch and copy them right away. I also see 2-3 sites that look EXACTLY THE SAME on Shopify but just changed their shop name. I right-click on the image to see where the JPG is housed, and mostly its Shopify CDN.

As recommended in this portal, I search in Google > shopping .. for the title of my shirts to find the copycats. I also created a gmail CANNED RESPONSE to use for the DCMA reporting, . and I only searched for 6 designs so far and had to send 7 emails. Let's get these shops banned.

Hello @Kristi and everyone else experiencing the theft and on this thread. It's unfortunate but I do believe MBA will get their arms around it this year. With that said, I understand that the thieves are doing this on a mass scale, are using some sort of script to scrape all the data, the shirt marketplace image, title description, etc., but what I don't understand is how they are replicating a "clean artwork image/the 4500x5400 .png" image with TRANSPARENT background from the image scraped from the Amazon listing. They have to be removing the original artwork image on the actual shirt from the MBA marketplace somehow because any third party POD company would require "clean artwork" to print the stolen design. That is what puzzles me. Or they must be pulling it from the code from within the MBA listing.

Conceptually, I understand what they have been doing and how; with software and scraping. But how they are providing their POD site with artwork decent enough to print from is puzzling to me. They can't just be uploading the actual product/shirt image to the POD service and printing a new shirt from that. The POD company wouldn't have good enough artwork to even begin printing. Any ideas?

Whoever it is, and I believe it is likely a handful of thieves rather than 100's or even thousands, they are quite crafty and MBA would be better off hiring them to understand their secrets in order to combat the theft rather than us playing Whack-A-Mole. Just a thought.....Have a great day and I hope this helps someone out in some way. JR&EC's.

Most of the print on demand sources these crooks are using DO NOT CARE about the quality of the image provided. Blurry? Who cares. Pixelated? Oh well. Fuzzy edges because they did a crappy job removing the background? Print it up and ship it out. It isn't their reputations on the line. They get paid regardless. And the fact is, 90% of people who buy stuff off of the internet basically expect to get ripped off. They won't bother to contact the site that sold it and demand a refund. They will just throw it away and not order again. The thieves don't care about building a brand/reputation. They know they are never going to send out a great product, all they care about is getting a single sale from thousands of people. By the time they run out of people to sell to, they have stolen a fresh new batch of images and have opened another dozen sites. Think about a con man selling property that doesn't exist. They work hard to get the sale, showing pictures of the non-existent dream property. They sucker the buyer into grabbing it then they take off with the money never to be heard of again. Having dealt with this for years, I can tell you that many of them NEVER SHIP A PRODUCT at all. Others ship a really horrid version (because the quality of the image doesn't matter, only the money does - remember they aren't about building a business... they are only about making a single sale and moving on to the next sucker). These particular print on demand companies will print ANYTHING they provide as it doesn't harm their business in the slightest and they get paid.

Have you been able to determine who the fulfillment company is? I tried contacting CustomCat, but they said they only service Shopify stores, so they don't think these stores are using them.

I forgot to add - there are programs out there that will remove the image from the shirt and give you a HIGH RESOLUTION clean version of the image. There are also programs that can be used to trace the image and give a vector that the thieves can then stretch up to a much larger size. The problem is that Amazon needs to make it so the shirt isn't flat - it needs wrinkles and an angle to it and/or it needs to be watermarked. The large flat view is far to easy for thieves to use.

Whack-A-Mole is a pretty accurate description, unfortunately.

I would love to know the answer too, regarding what image they are able to scrape from MBA.

Teespring seems to have no problem with the quality. But maybe that is why most of the thieves are not uploading to other PODs but are selling them from shops they create on Shopify and other hosts. That way they can upload whatever they want. I've even found some of my designs where the image is hardly recognizable because it's been cut-off on the shirt.

Thanks so much for posting this! I had no idea how many of my designs were plastered all over thief-dom!

BTW Mike at shopify says that

snowbig.com is not hosted by their service. He gave me the following info for anyone who knows how to use it:

Host: ENOM, INC.

IP: 23.227.38.32

Some others from your list that are no longer with shopify:

nowlion.com ciaotee.com Host: AbeloHost B.V IP: 185.145.128.177

miaotee.com Host: BlazingFast IP: 185.61.137.49

According to whoishostingthis.com, snowbig is hosted by AbeloHost. That's one of the offshore hosts that the theives have moved to after Shopify closed their stores. It even says in their Acceptable Use Policy that DMCA is not Dutch law, so they won't do anything unless the Dutch authorities are involved. They've already ignored several of my E-mails.

I think the best thing we can do now, in addition to requesting that Amazon make it harder to steal our designs, is to contact Google and PayPal. Google, to request that they remove the links to the stores in Google Shopping. And PayPal, to shut down PayPal accounts that are engaging in illegal copyright infringement.

Also, if you come across any sites that have stolen your work and you want to know if it is a SHOPIFY site, go to:

http://www.whoishostingthis.com

Put in the URL of the site and hit "SEARCH". This will then look up the host of the site and tell you who you need to report it to. You can and should report to other hosts as well if/when you find your work stolen. But, the majority of them seem to be using Shopify which is why I have given the instructions for how to get them removed from Shopify and BANNED.

I have found my shirts on the following through Google Shopping:

choosemytee.com

dumashop.com

emzishop.com

pngtee.com

shusashop.com

The last four are not hosted by Shopify - how do I get them taken down?

The only non Shopify one I can actually view is dumashop.com. When I look to see where the images are hosted, they're linking to AMAZON!

Figure out who is the host and then search for a administrator or intellectual property rights email for that host. Then send a DMCA the same way you would for Shopify.

According to whoishostingthis.com, Dumashop is hosted by blazingfast.io. You can contact abuse@blazingfast.io but they probably won't reply. They've ignored dozens of my emails. They're one of the offshore hosting companies that chooses to ignore DMCA law, and is often used by people who want to host illegal content.

You can also report them to Google and Paypal

Hey Kristi - Have you or anyone else seen this yet? I used your format above to report some Shopify stores. Below is what I got in return:

Mike (Shopify) Apr 25, 15:43 EDT Hi Clark, Mike here with Shopify. Thanks for reaching out. We require a properly formatted DMCA Takedown Notice for each individual store infringing on your intellectual property on Shopify. Please reformat your below notices and resubmit using out DMCA Notice and Takedown form here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/dmca Once received, we will be happy to pass them along to our merchant. Yes, you have to fill out the form once for EACH site. So if you need to report 5 of those sites, you'll do 5 individual emails formatted the way I suggested above. You can't report multiple sites in the same email.

Kristi avatar image Kristi Kristi commented ·

You can use their form or email, but you can only report 1 site each email or on each form submission. I have not had any experience using their form, but with emails they always remove promptly. You just cannot report multiple stores in the same form/email.

I am convinced that many of these are run under the same person/people.

Ototee.com on Google Shopping now directs to emzishop.com which looks exactly like miaotee.com

I have seen other sites that pop up with the same look and about us page, etc.

These sites, once they're shutdown by Shopify, are now moving to blazingfast.io - a webhost hosted overseas who conveniently ignores our DMCA requests.

We NEED Amazon to do something to protect us and prevent these thieves from profiting off our hard work.

If you are sure they are using Google Shopping you should report them to GS. If you can cut off their traffic source/how they are getting traffic to their sites to sell the stolen shirts, then they are out of business. Of course, they can just switch to another ad service provider but google is the predominate one you wanna target, then bing, then yahoo.

The sites that I posted below (besides bonanza) are blazingfast.io as well, domain names registered to someone in Panama. Sad to hear they do not care about the DMCA requests. Jumping Rope does have a good solution, though. Here's where you can report to Google.

NICE!! W3Bin.com tells me the infringing site is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare replies back to me and says: "Please be aware Cloudflare is a network provider offering a reverse proxy, pass-through security service. We are not a hosting provider. Cloudflare does not control the content of our customers." and they give me the name of: Hosting Provider:

----------------- STEADFAST Abuse Contact: -------------- abuse@steadfast.netSteadfast writes back and says: "Hello,The domain indicated in your notice is hosted on CloudFlare and we do not have the ability to identify the IP address to which it points. Please submit your abuse notice through CloudFlare directly: https://www.cloudflare.com/abuse/ ".I am so unbelievably sick of this.

And at this point, I'd write them both back QUOTING what the other said about how they are the host and then tell them if the content isn't removed IMMEDIATELY, you are going straight to a lawyer's office. Tell them that safe harbor will not cover them because they are not refusing to adhere to an official DMCA notice.
