Has the theft issue gotten any better?

I've been spending the last six weeks working on all of my designs, and plan to upload at least some of them soon. I do have my own store, but wanted to expand at least a few designs to amazon to increase sales. I know that there is a risk with any POD service, but was surprised at how widespread it *seems* to be here. Has the issue gotten any better? Curious what long term merch users have to say.

Thanks!

Unless you work towards building a true, registered brand, intellectual property (IP) is non-existent. A thoughtful and creative design is no more considered IP than is selling all black t-shirts with hope that no one steals your idea.

Work hard, establish your brand, and keep it under wraps (away from prying eyes). In the meantime, experiment with ideas that get your feet wet and are free from risk of being stolen. What I'll refer to lightly as public domain designs are things such as abstract art. A few splotches of color and voila! It's likely not your masterpiece but it gets you in to the market. Have fun!
