Getting "429 too many request" errors

I am using the REST API and have a customer that is receiving the 429 too many request errors. I have searched the forum and saw that this issue should have been resolved in July some time. Can you tell me what the API request limit is ? Once it's reached how long until I can post another request ? And is this an APP wide limit ? We have many customers (many thousands) for our product and it's certainly possible that many requests can come in around the same time possibly triggering this limit.

Hi John,

Thanks for posting! Could you please specify what service do you have in mind? Is it for Amazon Drive or something else? Thanks!

sorry, this is for the Amazon Cloud Drive REST API. The error can be returned on various commands.

Thanks John, we'll also need your application name / ID. Could you please login to your Dev Portal account and raise a 'Contact Us' case with us providing that info and any additional details, specifically a time period when that issue occurred. Thanks!

Hi John,

Thanks for posting! Have you actively submitted your application for approval and gotten a direct response saying that your app is at production level now? If not, then the app is still at developer level, which is designed to be used by a single digit number of users who are actively developing or testing an application. Because of that, if your app is at developer level and you have indeed many thousands of customers using it, then you will be getting error 429s.

Hi John, I am scouring the web to look for the rate/limit for Product Advertising API requests from a mobile app in Production. I was going to incorporate calls to the Product Advertising API directly into my mobile app, but it has a lot of users and I am afraid it could generate more than one request per second (which is the only limit I have ever heard of, but I am hoping it does not apply for a mobile app, which would render use of the PAAPI in the app useless). Thanks in advance if you can answer!

Hi momoftwo,

The OP question was about Amazon Drive. Are you building an app using Drive APIs? From your other question I assume the answer is no. Please provide more details on your other / duplicate forum post. Thanks!
