Cannot interact with my skills on my Echo

I've gone through the getting started guides and created my first skill on Lambda. However, I cannot get my Echo to invoke it. Even setting up a new skill that just hits a web url doesn't work (confirmed by tailing the web server logs). Alexa just says it doesn't know what to do. I've made sure I'm logged into the developer site and my Echo with the same account. I've restarted my Echo, unbound and rebound, etc. Is there any debugging available at this stage at all? Being able to view my Echo(s) on the developer site would be nice, as would be the ability to see "installed" skills in the companion app. At this point, I've spent hours trying to just this last part of the demo working, and I'm totally lost.

When you registered your skill in the console did you also enable it? If you did, it should appear on the skills tab in your companion app. If it's not there, then you need to work out why it isn't registered.

Did you remember to choose the correct region when registering your skills on Lambda? It should be US East (N. Virginia).

Oh wow. I swear that Skills tab was not on the companion app before, but I just looked in there and my test skills were enabled. So I tried them and they worked. I haven't done anything to get them to work since posting my question besides waiting.
