"Batch" skill to invoke s series of built-in Echo functions
Can a skill be built to simply take a single voice request and then invoke a series of standard Echo requests? E.g., saying "Alexa, ask for my morning preview" will call the standard Echo weather, calendar for the day, and news requests in series without further interaction from the user. I guess the question is can a skill either (1) 'simulate' voice requests or (2) just call specific responses to requests?
You have to remember the difference between The Echo product, and The Alexa service. Anything that begins with a standard phase like "Alexa open " is something provided by the Alexa service. Everything else is tied to The Echo product. Since the Alexa service runs on multiple devices, it can never avail of intrinsic Echo specific features. There's nothing stopping Amazon releasing a built-in Echo function that can call other built-in Echo functions, but that would be a feature requests for the Echo, not the Alexa Skill Kit.
Levon, how about exposing this "platform request queue"? No point nattering on about "timelines applied", since you wouldn't tell us if there was. If you want a sense of community participation and engagement, please expose feature requests to the SDK like most other developer relations.
