Setting to disable fling?

Hello,

I've got a request from a client who is using our Fire TV app in a school. The issue is now that kids are using Fling to cast video to the fire tv from mobile phones. Is it possible to disable or restrict access to Fling? It seems it should be in "Display & Sounds" similar to the option to turn off "Second Screen Notifications"

Kind Regards,

Luke

Hi Luke,

Have you implemented the Fling SDK as part of your Fire TV app?

No we haven't added the Fling SDK to our Amazon Fire TV app, it runs without the need for a mobile app. Our app is installed via the app store. What we want is to stop unauthorised people (aka pesky kids) on the same WIFI network flinging stuff from mobile to the TV without permission. It seems to me given there is an option to turn off "Second Screen Notifications" there should also be an option to optionally disable Fling in the OS. If its possible to stop this happening by adding the Fling SDK we are happy to do that.

Hi Luke,

The ability to disable Fling functionality on Fire TV does not currently exist, but the Fire TV team will now consider it for future updates. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for the confirming the fire tv team will consider adding this. While fling is great its important to be mindful that these devices are used in schools and sometimes these things need to be disabled.

Kind Regards,

Luke
