Alexa connectivity on devices

Hello

Iam a noob in this field,

1) I would like to know how device manufacturers normally implement alexa connectivity to their devices.?

2) Does it require a mandatory cloud connectivity from the device manufacturer side for the device, Or Can it be done locally in the clients Wi-Fi network with out any cloud facility.?

3) What all are the best practices for the above implementations?

4) How Alexa finds the devices in the WiFi network. What protocol is being used for the discovery process.?

Hello. If you're a device manufacturer trying to figure out the best way to connect your devices to Alexa, there's multiple options available. Those options include making an Alexa smart home skill, using Alexa Connect Kit (ACK), or making a Zigbee device as some Echo devices come with Zigbee hubs integrated.
