Alexa Smart Home Skill and free text

Is there a possiblity to interact with Smart Home Devices by passing arbitrary strings?

E.g. it would be nice to have something like that: "Alexa, say 'hello world' to my smart home device".

Based on the available interfaces documentation, it seems to be that it is only possible to send:

1. Numbers, dates, etc...

2. Fixed values that hardcoded (e.g. Alexa.ThermostatController Interface)

3. Fixed values that are defined at discovery phase (e.g. Alexa.ModeController Interface)


The 3rd solution may not be an option in case of free text.

Hi. This is currently not a supported feature of Alexa Skills Kit. That said, as a developer you can submit feature requests and ideas in our UserVoice space via the following link:

It seems to be that it takes quite a lot of time to have approval from moderators...
