Automatic framerate switching issue on Fire TV

I have a Fire TV Stick 4k hooked up to a B&W Panorama soundbar with HDMI. The soundbar is connected to the tv (Panasonic VT60) with HDMI.

The automatic framerate switching works with both Plex and Kodi, until I turn of either TV or soundbar. After they're turned on again the framerate is stuck at 60HZ. The only way to resolve this is to go into Fire TV settings, switch resolution from 'Auto' to '1080p@60Hz', then back to 'Auto' and re-enable 'Automatic framerate switching'. After this trick, Kodi and Plex will switch framerates again until the tv and/or soundbar are turned off. Rinse and repeat to get it working again. Restarting the Fire TV will not fix this issue, neither will restarting Kodi or Plex. This settings trick is the ONLY way to get AFS to work again, and toggling 'Automatic framerate switching' alone is not enough. The resolution MUST be changed in order to get it to work again.

If the Fire Stick is connected to the TV directly this problem does not occur. It will happily switch framerates no matter how many times I turn off the TV. If my television would pass Dolby Digital and DTS over ARC then I would have no issues using this setup, but unfortunately I will only get stereo PCM this way.

This is most likely a HDMI handshaking issue between the Fire TV stick and my soundbar. But, since it can be fixed by toggling some settings on the Fire TV stick, I am very certain that this can be resolved by the Fire OS software.

Thank you very much!

Up to 2 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 512.0 KiB each and 1.0 MiB total.

I'm afraid I'm facing the same issue, and it is really really frustrating that no one is taking care in Amazon FireTV development. In my case it a Samsung HW-C700 AV-Receiver. Ok, really not a newer model, but I don have any issue with any other device connected. When connected to the (Samsung) TV, th framerate is adjusted, but then I just have 2-channel PCM Audio. I wonder if not a HDMI switch could solve the issue?

This was 9 months ago, can you please bring this up again? There has not been a fix and it's extremely annoying. Thanks!

Same problem here, but with another soundbar (Sony HT-XT1).

Months have passed, no news about it?

I've got similar issues with my ONKYO amp. If I plug directly to the TV I'm OK, but going via the AMP means Frame Rate matching keeps getting stuck to 1080p60

I've got the same issues with an Onkyo AMP. Tried a FireStick 4K and the old Fire TV Gen3 Pendant.

Direct to TV HDMI - Frame Rate Matching works

Via Onkyo AMP - Frame Rate stuck at 1080p60

I know it isn't an issue with the Amp as I've got other devices connected which are switching frame rates for video playback. I've also tried switching HDMI ports.

This looks like the same issue

So it's been over a year since this thread started, this issue has not been resolved. I have to go into settings every time I watch TV to get framerate switching back. Please address this and fix..

I am seeing this issue on my Panasonic VTW60 and Yamaha YSP-4300 soundbar. Frame rate switching stops working until I change something in the video settings (like bit depth) and then cancel the change confirmation.
