removing color options

Hello. I chose 5 color options for my shirt designs. In most cases Amazon's display color choice is the poorest of the color combinations. I'd like to go back and delete the least attractive color in hopes the next display color will be better. I understand Amazon automatically chooses the color based on overall best selling color, but the best selling color is not always the best for each design. I'd like to remove some color options . How can i do this?

Hi Lauren, Thank you for posting in the forums. Please note that once your t-shirt design goes live, you will be unable to make changes to the image, t-shirt type, or colors selected. Please refer to the knowledge base article "How do I edit or delete a live shirt?" below for further information about what product data can be changed once your t-shirt goes live in your Merch By Amazon account: https://forums.developer.amazon.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=9292&tstart=0

Lauren, you can go to https://merch.amazon.com/manage and in right hand column 'Actions' select 'Edit' for shirt you wish to change. But, I think this means design will go for approval again, although it retains the listing URL? Wait to get confirmation on that from someone else, as it is a while since I have done so.

Is there any reason why Amazon does not allow sellers to specify the Default Display Color when setting up an item listing? As far as I know Amazon Merch is currently the only print-on-demand site that does not allow this, and it's a basic standard that sellers have come to expect and make good use of, so is there any reasoning behind not having this simple option? I'm not averse to having an item show on its "best selling color" after it reaches a certain number of sales (25 maybe?) but if the random color chosen for display is not the most marketable color, and/or the first sale is on a less marketable color, then having the random or 'top-selling' color come in from minute 1 seems like it would actively damage sales - which I'm pretty sure is in no way Amazon's aim :) :)
