Amazon is enabling theft of Merch by Amazon designs.

I have had repeated issues with finding designs that I only uploaded to Amazon being sold on other third party websites. I believe this is happening because the thumbnail image urls on our Dashboards are not at all secure, are too high res and are not watermarked.

For instance here is a url to one of my designs below. This design is now being sold all over the damn internet. I can't report a DMCA violation because these websites completely ignore me and are probably not even in the US.

Amazon needs to do something about this. Security by obscurity does not work. Obviously the third party tools that Merch designers use like the Chrome plugin PrettyMerch know about these urls because they are able to pull the images.

I have tested this url after logging out of my Merch account and it still pulls the image, even in a new browser window. I texted it to a friend and he was able to open it also. At a minimum lower the resolution and add watermarks!

waste of time/effort. Get past the initial shock/anger and look at this for what it is: software on low-rent websites that get virtually no traffic. 99.9% of people are on Amazon, not spending their hard earned money on shady websites

Thank- you for putting it into prospective! I’m fuming right now after finding 2 of my cat designs stolen AGAIN - so I like like this reminder that the websites they are selling on that WONT take them down are shitty little companies anyhow! Hahahhaaaa talentless bums!

Please, do something about it. Yesterday I found one my designs free to download in a website. They steal your design and make it available to anyone who wants to use it.

You can also send a DMCA to google and choke these people off in search results if they won't willingly comply to a takedown notice.

I've had my design stolen and uploaded right into Merch By Amazon. The worst is that the person copied all of my texts except the brand name. Now I am competing with the seller because he lowered the sales to the base price ($13.07), with 0 earning. I have written to Amazon twice and all I can get is a generic acknowledgement email from their bot. It's a Halloween design and the only thing that is making 99% sales out of my entire 100 designs, and the only shirt that is selling out of my 50 Halloween designs. I would have cared less if I am making money from other designs, but It hurts that this might soon put a stop to all of my effort on research and creation.

Amazon doesn't seem to be much concern about infringement. I am going to write to them for the 3rd time. I might continue to write them until they pull down the stolen content.

yep just found a few of mine being resold..they could easily fix by using mock up models instead of a high resolution flat image..very frustrating

Now the thieves are showing exactly how to do it on youtube and youtube has no category for reporting this that's appropriate. Frickin bastards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLqczJJjy1E

Almost every one of my Amazon Merch designs has been stolen repeatedly since I first joined.

All of the other print on demand websites that I'm on offer watermarking.

Why doesn't Amazon?

AMAZON does not care about protecting their content creators... they only care about the content and that it sells...
