Raspberry Pi freezes on AVS install

Hi,

I'm going through the Amazon Developer tutorial on how to install the AVS onto a Raspberry Pi. I've followed the instructions up until "Build the AVS Device SDK." I entered the commands and after a few minutes and a prompt, the whole thing freezes at:

[ 59%] Building CXX object CapabilityAgents/Bluetooth/src/CMakeFiles/Bluetooth.dir/Bluetooth.cpp.o

The processor gets really hot and I had to cut the power. Am I doing anything wrong? I've looked at other forum posts with similar issues but none offer any solutions I can use. I'm using an updated Raspberry Pi 3 B+. Any help would be appreciated!

The RaspberryPi may get over heated during the compilation of the SDK. I suggest trying to use "make SampleApp" instead of "make -j2 SampleApp" and make sure there's plenty of ventilation around the RaspberryPi and try again.

For me it was the same, shutdown + reboot and make a new compilation will resolve this.

I found that as well as removing the -j2, increasing the swap file size from 100 to 1024 stopped the problem.

Could someone elaborate on this? I haven't used any command that looks like this so I'm not sure where to edit this...

I solved this problem closing every this on my screen unleash the Terminal.

In this step, is required lot of system memory, i saw on task.

If this procedure not fix the problem, change you swap memory size.

To do this fallow this instruction on terminal:

sudo -s

swapoff -a

dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=512

mkswap /swapfile

swapon /swapfile

swapon -s

That last one shows if the size change to more than 524000.

This procedure taked a 1:30 hour to be completed.

I hope helped you.
