I wan't to win the free kindle but I have very few downloads on Amazon mobile app. (2 a weeks !) My app are also on Google Playstore with a lot of downloads (2 000 a weeks) and requests (40 000). If I put Amazon ads code on my APP and publish a new version on the 2 stores (Amazon mobile app and Google Plays). Does twice requests will be acount ? or only requests from an app download by "Amazon mobile app" ? Thx Fred

Hi, Thank you for posting. A "Qualifying App" is any mobile app that is submitted to the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal between and including July 25th and September 1st, 2013. Apps that have sent ad requests to Amazon using the Amazon Mobile Ads API prior to July 25, 2013 are not Qualifying Apps. A developer's Qualifying Apps must send at least 500 ad requests every week during the Offer Period. (Each week begins at 12:01 a.m. Sunday and ends at11:59 p.m. Saturday.) This offer is only open to developers who send the required number of ad requests for the entire Offer Period.

It's not clear for me... I publish an app (.apk) on the "Amazon mobile app", it become eligible "= Qualifying App" for the program kindle. It's not answer me if requests are count for the app (.apk) only throught the "Amazon mobile app" or also throught "Play Store" or other Android alternative market... Can you answer me by yes or no, it would be more understandable for me Cdly, Fred

No. The ad requests are considered for the app distributed only through the "Amazon mobile app".

Sujoy, are you sure about it? On my understanding the rules didn't mention anything like that. To me the rules read as: 1) It must be a new integration to the SDK: - The app must be new on the Amazon Store (or must have a new version of the app) between certain dates - No ad requests must be sent prior to a certain date 2) It must be relevant: - There must be a minimum of 500 ad requests per week between certain dates I don't see where it fits in the logic or explicitly on the rules that the requests only count if they come from the APK downloaded from the Amazon store. (I'm just posting here because it doesn't make sense and doesn't seem fair, since I'm having 500 requests per week only with Amazon-downloaded APK anyway)

Yes, it must certainly be submitted to Amazon, thats very clear on the rule, and thats the part "A" of my rule interpretation. But it doesnt say that the ad requests must come from the APK downloaded on the Amazon store. For example lets say we have one app with 100k downloads on Google Play and its not yet released on Amazon. If we integrate with Amazon Ads and submit as a new app to the Amazon Store, the app would be a Qualifying App, since it's both integrated with the Ads API and is submitted to the Amazon portal. Lets say that for some reason (bad luck?) we dont get any downloads at all on Amazon. The 500 requests per week part of the rule doesnt say "only coming from Amazon installations", so we will have the 100k downloads making requests to the Amazon Ads platform, which will certainly fulfill the 500 requests per week. The question is: will those requests count or not? If not, why? This is a very delicate topic about the rules and its correct interpretation, so please let's allow Amazon to answer it and make it clear for everybody.

Ah well now I got it, sorry! Well indeed an interesting question. I don't know how Amazon can even distinguish the source of the request?

Yep, it's possible. In fact we have already to do that to use the correct billing system or send to the correct URL when asking the user to rate. String installationSource = pm.getInstallerPackageName(getPackageName()); Google Play => starts with "com.android" Amazon => starts with "com.amazon"

Hi, Sorry for miscommunication. Below is verified and official statement. Ad requests sent to Amazon from an app distributed outside of Amazon (e.g., Google Play), or sent to Amazon through a bundled SDK using both our API and another SDK (e.g., Burstly, AdMarvel or AdMob) also count towards the 500 weekly ad requests. Ad requests are not limited to those sent from an app distributed through Amazon, or ad requests sent from an app distributed through our API, standing alone and unmediated. Ad requests sent outside Amazon count towards 500 weekly ad requests. Ad requests generated via a mediation framework count towards the 500 weekly ad requests.
