Ask for Device Properties

When I ask: "Alexa, is my <devicename> turned ON?" she answers: "This is currently not supported by your device". Why does Alexa not provide such an easy and essential functionality? It can query a thermostat for its current temperature settings but wont tell me if a power-outlet is ON or OFF? Am I doing something wrong?

P.S.: I am developing the Skill in German. If this issue is due to the language please let me know!

Thanks for posting. Currently, voice query is not available for every type of smart home endpoint. Please see the following link for a list of smart home utterances that are available to customers in Germany:
