In-app callbacks work in SDK tester but not Live?

I'm a bit in panic mode right now. My client just published an update that I made to their free app. It now includes in-app purchases. We thoroughly tested the purchasing flow with the SDK tester (going through all the possible fail / success combinations) and everything worked great. Now the app is live in the store and I told my client to immediately test the in-app purchasing section. Strangely enough, the purchases work, but no access is granted until the user restarts the app completely. I respond to the purchase in private class PurchaseAsyncTask extends AsyncTask but it doesn't appear to be called based on the UI (if I have to believe the testing team my client uses). Have other people experienced discrepancies between the SDK tester app and the Live situation? Thank you!

It now appears that the callbacks ARE happening, but something else is going wrong in the app. Must be some difference between Live and not Live. Will update when I found out.
