Teespring Copycat Designs

On teespring I have noticed most of my designs have been stolen from amazon and copied over there. I have contacted teespring about a few of them but can't spend all day tracking down hundreds of shirts. Amazon needs to do something on their sellers behalf. Almost every shirt design has been ripped off and put over there and they're making money off of our designs. They are literally pixel by pixel exact replicas. Some even have taken the exact description and title and everything. If we make enough noise to teespring about maybe they will do something more drastic than just taking down a few designs. They need to ban the abusers.

I too found some of my designs directly copied on Teespring. Same exact design. Same exact title. Only differences, they're available on a wide selection of varying t shirt and other clothing styles instead of only 1 style on Amazon, AND they undercut my price.

So they're probably making far more money that I am. Pffffft

I just filed a take down notice.

I'm a T4000 seller and there are - literally - HUNDREDS of pages of pixel-for-pixel copycats of my designs on Teespring.

My top design alone has 63 copycat listings.

The frustrating part is that when you report and take down 1 listing, 3 more pop up in its place.

I really wish Teespring would remove the accounts of people who are breaking the law and revoke their upload priveleges.

it has totally gotten out of hand. the folks at TS are great - but .......as with Amazon, the copycat designs are popping up left and right. Being blunt - they make money, copycat or not, if it sells.

Revoking the person is great but they pop up again under another name. Basically, we do the work and they take it all - designs, copy etc and run like mad to put it everywhere. then many sell the actual design to others.

Wish I hadn't looked, hundreds if not thousands of our designs on Teespring. Same copy as we use on Amazon and they include our brand name. Makes me sick, years of work stolen,

Teespring recently changed their policies so that there are harsher penalties and swifter bans for copycats. I have been reporting multiple copycats over the past couple of weeks. A cycle of reporting, removal, and reappearance occurred daily until they finally vanished. I haven't seen a single copycat in four days.

I've completely stopped filling my slots on Amazon due to this. I do not have time to police those who are stealing my work. I also am not up for designing new shirts for others to profit off of. I'll keep checking back for when there's some resolution, because designing shirts was a blast til this all went down!

And, thanks to the self-proclaimed "gurus" teaching those with no design talent whatsoever to derive inspiration (steal) from the rest of us, you can now find exact copies of your Amazon desings right on Amazon too. YAY!

Who listens to them anyway? They make money off of you from subscribing, visiting their blogs and paying for their services. You all wrote about the PODs ripping you off when it was the gurus too. Just keep uploading and ignore the ripoff artists they will always steal or donit similar. I have actual registrations so I submit it once to copycats and then all clear. Protect your work it's important and brings a monetary scare tactic.

I took a look at Amazon UK and found my bestsellers there (pixel for pixel, including my copyright line!), sold by Teespring. Insult to injury, they make some unsupportable claims:

  • Guaranteed to last through hundreds of washes.
  • Teespring products are printed on authentic high-quality garments and designed by independent artists [well technically, this is true]

Scrolling through the Teespring results, I feel confident in saying the vast majority of their content is stolen. Amazon needs to stop dithering around and block all Teespring product.

Hey Scott! :) As someone who began on TS while I waited a lovely 6 months (without any daily posts on forums complaining about it daily lol ), I'll back TS any day of the week.

They have been outstanding to work with, have removed copycats for me immediately and I see them battling the copycats daily.

They are a good group of people trying to keep a run away train on the tracks and I think it is a nightmare of a project.

I think a huge problem is the ease in which people can lift our designs. I am not a programmer, and I don't have any idea on how one can see our designs and in minutes, have it basically cloned - but it is mind boggling to me.

Teespring have recently introduced a trust score for their artists and will not show work by people with a low trust score so start reporting the copycats .. (especially if they are on amazon as teespring will want to keep sweet with Amazon) I have reported hundreds and they are slow but eventually get around to it and now the offender is no longer discoverable on their site ( I used an auto form filler extension for chrome to speed up the reporting process) The sad part of this is I got a retaliatory copyright report and had one of mine taken down AND had my trust score reduced so am also now not searchable lol. but TBH I only uploaded them to undermine the copycats

That's a good thing.

Their reputation is not good: too many stolen designs there.

Actually, it's a bad thing. Copycats can still use Facebook and social media campaigns to point directly to their listings. But... because those listings don't show up in the Teespring Marketplace... WE CAN'T FIND OUR STOLEN DESIGNS to issue a takedown.

Teespring just pulled off a brilliant scam. Keeping the copycat $$$ rolling in while simultaneously "cracking down" on copycats.

That is terrible news.

Did they send you and email saying specifically that your trust score was lowered?
