Add Device Admin is not working on kindle Fire HD after update

Hi, The app that I am working on needs to be enabled as device admin,It works well on 1 st Generation Kindles and Kindle Fire HD before the System Update,The present System version of Kindle Fire HD is "7.2.2_user_ ",we were not able to add the app as device admin.Device Software is 4.0.3 I guess. I have tried google apis demo app on the device ,which did not result in any success either. I have the seen the following error in the logs when it tries to add the app as device admin. " I/PlatformSettings.DeviceAdminAdd(5490): Not granting admin privileges to package:com.example.android.apis" I have tried the Native Email app on Kindle Fire HD which was able to add as a device admin without an issue. Am I missing something here or is there a change that made our app not able to add it a device admin anymore like the way it used to?

Thank you for your post. Adding device administrators is no longer permitted for third party applications on the Kindle Fire HD devices. Applications could register as device admins on previous versions of the Fire HD system software, but this is no longer allowed in the current version.

Thanks Anshul. Do you know why amazon has removed the access for third party apps to add device admin. Are there any alternatives now that can help me? Does Amazon has a customer program where they can white list apps?

Why would they do that? This must certainly break a lot of apps. Many third party developers will not want to code for this platform anymore.

Device administration is restricted due to security reasons. However we have forwarded the developer's concerns to the corresponding team and they are evaluating the issue. In the mean while if you need any further information on Device administration or alternatives, then please raise a ContactUs( https://developer.amazon.com/help/contactus.html) with your usecase details and we will see what best can be done in this regard. Also Amazon does not have a customer program where they can white list apps.
