android.os.Build.MODEL for emulators

On the SDK device specs page, the Build.MODEL values are listed as Kindle Fire, KFOT, KFTT, KFJWI, and KFJWA. When running in the emulator I see an extra E on the end. I don't have a physical device, so can I assume that this extra character is only present on the emulator? Also, the Fire HD 8.9 emulator identifies itself as WFJWAE, not KFJWA(E) as documented above. What are the correct Build.MODEL values for the physical devices? Are these variations documented somewhere?

Karl, You are correct that the "E" is only currently appended in the emulators. This is subject to change, but I will update this thread once we have it finalized. The model number for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" emulator is indeed reporting the wrong value. Thanks for letting us know, and we are working on the issue. As for the physical devices, the values they report for Build.MODEL are indeed the ones listed at the specifications page you referenced ( https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/specifications.html).
