New Device PID? Device not recognized for 4th Gen Fire HD7 with ADB on

Hello All, I just purchased the 4th Gen Fire HD7 on Prime Day, which I suspect now has a different PID (PID_0120) than the ones Amazon's drivers are looking for (PID_0006). Here's what I did: - Turn on ADB on the device - Install the Amazon Fire drivers (after following numerous steps, finally running KindleDrivers.exe) - Plug in Fire HD7 - Device Manager shows yellow exclamation, get a bubble in tray saying "Drivers could not be installed". Further inspection shows Hardware Id of VID_1949&PID_0120 I'm on Windows 7 x64. I downloaded the drivers via SDK Manager, "Kindle Fire USB Driver" which is revision 6. Anyone have an idea here? Do I need newer drivers? Thanks!

Hi, The drivers should work, but you might have to do a bit of manual tweaking to get them to recognize that device: 1. Go to device manager 2. Right click on the Kindle with the yellow exclamation mark 3. Select "Update Driver Software" 4. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" 5. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" 6. Select "ADB Composite Interface" You then should be good to go with ADB. Thanks, Nick

I'm having the same problem, but with Windows 8.1 I go through the procedure at: https://developer.amazon.com/appsandservices/resources/development-tools/ide-tools/tech-docs/05-setting-up-your-kindle-fire-tablet-for-testing The old driver appears to be removed properly, so I run KindleDrivers.exe, which tells me that the Kindle fire drivers are already installed. I tell it to go ahead anyway, and it runs to a successful completion. Then Device Manager/Portable Devices/Fire tells me that I have a Microsoft supplied driver dated 2006. Somehow the driver uninstall/install is getting hopelessly confused. When I try to Update the drivers as suggested, the only driver that appears is "MTP USB Device". Help, someone, please? Hi, You may need to uncheck the box that shows only compatible drivers, as sometimes that will cause the driver to be hidden. Thanks, Nick

I have a very similar problem. Since I have 32 bit Windows KindleDrivers.exe put my drivers in C:\Program Files\ Amazon.com\Kindle Fire\Drivers. In Device Manager I have Other devices->Fire with the yellow !. I deleted the driver, then went to Update Driver In "Search for driver software in this location" I browsed to the above folder. I checked "Include subfolders". I couldn't "uncheck the box that shows only compatible drivers" since no such box exists, that I can see. Clicking Next I get "Windows could not find driver software for your device". I have a Dell Latitude D630, Intel Core 2 Duo, Win7 Pro 32. On a hunch I looked at the files in the Drivers folder. Then looked in the i386 subfolder. There is a dpinst.exe, so I ran it. It said "The device driver installation wizard was unable to find any drivers designed for your machine". Any ideas?

Hi, There should be an updated version of the Kindle Fire drivers available via the sdk manager, which should fix most of the problems that have been reported here. Thanks, Nick
