Fire TV Stick Connected With Problems? TRY THIS FIX!

I was beginning to think this puppy was not ready for Prime Time...could NOT get it to work, then inspiration struck. Went into my router set up (An Arris TG862) and entered the FireTV Stick's MAC address in the device menu. Unplugged the stick from the TV for 5 seconds, and upon replug...SUCCESS! If you have tried everything else, try this and you should be up and running...and shame on Amazon for some pretty poor documentation on this device.

I think this is the answer that I'm looking for but would you be able to explain it further in depth I'm a little confused. What I do know is that mine is constantly saying no service and when I try to download anything onto my firestick it says downloading is not supported at this time I've used several different browsers and nothing works

Ok - So this is what worked for me:

1. My home network has 3 routers/access points.
2. I had the same issue with my FireTV stick where it connected to wifi but 'with problems'.

This is the fix :

Settings => My Fire TV => About => Network
Make sure that the default gateway is your main router if you have more than one.
For some reason it was picking up the 2nd one on my network.
To fix this:

1. Settings => Network => Forget your connection.

2. Connect to your connection again, authenticate, then select 'Advanced'.
3. Add an IP for your FireTV stick (you can use the current one as per Settings => My Fire TV => About => Network) and then enter the IP address for the correct gateway and DNS servers.

That fixed it for me.

I wonder if it would be possible to watch streamed videos on Fire TV Stick using Wifi Router as Media Server? My setup is like this: https://kandrejevs.com/blog/read/43/Use-Wifi-Router-as-Media-Server-to-Watch-Streamed-Videos-On-Ipad Thank you :)

So i actually work for the local cable company i have been frustrated for the last few days as my fire stick will play videos for about 10-15min then start buffering. When i go to the network connection it says connected with problems. Well today i plugged it in my living room tv and right after i did my cable box went out and stopped working. We use an ip based whole home DVR system and the boxes have to pull an ip address from the main box that is also the router for the internet. When i checked the boxes IP i saw it said 192.168.0.14 i recall being frustraded with the fire stick and i knew i had seen that ip somewhre before turns out the fire stick had also taken that ip address and this was cuasing an ip conflict between the 2. Since there is no way to control the ip address on the fire stick i had to make the cable box pickup a different ip and now my fire stick is back to working correctly.

Found the solution to this problem. In my case, I am using Private Internet Access VPN. Activating the following options corrected the problem and increased my download speed by 75%.

1. Block local network

2. Use TCP

3. Use small packets

4. Agressive IPv6 blocking

This sounds great! But, how do you do that? Will you post a You Tube video showing this? How do you get the FireTV Stick's MAC address? I don't see how the Device menu can be edited. Please help. Rene'
