Is there a way to set the Cognito User Pool to set the username so that it is not case sensitive?

Some mobile apps capitalize the user name when logging in to Cognito. I would like to be able to set the username to all lowercase. We are currently using the UI Cognito customizations for an Oauth2 sequence with Alexa linking and do not have the capability to interject with code to perform the toLowerCase on the user name.
