After uploading your Fire TV application’s binary, you may notice that Amazon Fire devices and Non-Amazon Android devices are filtered out correctly and appear as ‘Unsupported’. However, the Fire TV family of devices also appear as ‘Excluded’, effectively making your TV app unable to support any of the listed devices. This is despite explicitly specifying that your app should support TV devices in your Android manifest file:
<uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.touchscreen" android:required="false" /> <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.type.television" android:required="true" />
This issue is easy to fix and it involves one manual step to do that. Normally, Dev Portal scans the manifest and automatically enables devices that the app can potentially support. The issue is that at the moment only Amazon tablets and non-Amazon phones and tablets get automatically enabled, but for Fire TV developers have to manually go into the 'APK Files' tab, then 'Device Support' section, click the 'View Device Support', hit 'Edit' in that popup dialog, and then manually put the switch into the ON position (supported) for Fire TV devices. Hopefully now you can submit your app successfully.
