Summary:
Currently, the Amazon developer portal does not support the ability to format your app’s product description. Please do not add HTML-like tags to your metadata as this can cause publishing issues with your metadata update or, if it publishes, to display incorrectly on your app’s retail page.
If you submit your app’s metadata under the “Descriptions” tab and receive the error message “Please correct the error(s) below” [pre]>[/pre] “Cannot contain HTML like tags”, this means that your app’s metadata contains HTML tags (such as
, and
) that must be removed from the text.
If you submit your app’s metadata under the “Descriptions” tab and receive the error message “Please correct the error(s) below” - “Please remove special symbols”, this means that your app’s metadata contains symbols that are not supported by the Amazon developer portal.
If you have written your app’s product description in a word processing program, please copy-paste it into a text file (e.g., Notepad on Windows, Text Edit on OSX) to strip your text of any embedded font type and style. You may also need to remove any special characters, such as umlauts or symbols, that may been inserted into the text.
Once these special symbols and/or HTML tags have been removed, you will be able to save your app’s metadata without receiving an error message. Please note, if you continue to receive this error message, any changes made without removing the special symbols or HTML tags in question will not be saved if you navigate away from the “Descriptions” tab.
